An unsecured business loan lender for brokers

When a client needs business finance without pledging a specific asset as security, an unsecured facility may be worth exploring. SimplyFunded works with brokers and introducers referring UK limited company cases. Funding can support working capital, supplier payments, stock, payroll, tax bills, repairs, contract costs, and growth, subject to assessment.

The broker relationship is direct. Register your brokerage, send the case by email, and speak with a member of the team reviewing it. There is no portal or API requirement. You can explain the client’s circumstances, ask questions, and get a clear view of what information could help the case progress.

A business loan is unsecured when it is not secured against a specific business asset such as property, equipment, or vehicle. Unsecured does not mean risk-free: a personal guarantee may be required, and the director should understand the terms and repayment commitment before accepting an offer. The client receives the agreed offer and guarantees details to review before proceeding.

Initial fit: five points to check

These points can help you decide whether to start a conversation with the team. They are initial guidelines, not a promise of approval; every application is assessed in its full circumstances, affordability, and supporting information.

Trading history

Homeowner director cases generally need at least six months of trading. Non-homeowner cases generally need twelve months and a profit and loss statement.

Consistent revenue

The usual starting point is around £5,000 or more in monthly revenue. Include context if revenue varies by season or has recently changed.

Director homeowner status

Homeowner status affects which credit circumstances can be considered. Include the status accurately when introducing the case.

Credit context

Satisfied CCJs and maintained payment plans can be considered by homeowner directors in cases. Adverse credit is not considered in non-homeowner cases.

Eligible sector and affordable request

Religious organizations, adult industries, charities, financial institutions, and non-profits are excluded. The requested borrowing should also make sense against the business’s trading and commitments.

For the complete overview, including how to present trading and credit information, read the business loan lending criteria for brokers.

How the unsecured broker process works

1

Register as a broker

Complete the broker partner registration so the team can identify your business and contact you about referrals.

2

Email a case summary

Share the amount, funding purpose, time trading, approximate monthly revenue, director for homeowner status, and relevant credit context.

3

Discuss fit and next steps

The team will call to discuss the case. They can explain what is needed next and request further information if the client decides to proceed.

4

Review the offer with your client

If an offer is made, help the client understand the amount, repayments, fees, and any personal guarantee before they decide whether to accept.

Open Banking is optional. If the client connects to their business account, it can help the team review recent trading activity sooner. A broker can still begin the initial conversation without it. Qualifying deals may receive a same-day payout once approved, and all completion steps are complete; timing depends on the case and client response.

Broker commission and client payout

Commission on completed business

The Commission can be up to 10% on new deals and up to 6% on renewals. The applicable amount depends on the deal and factor rate. Ask the team for the current sell rate table and confirm the terms for a specific case.

Clear amount paid to the client

Administration and legal fees are built into repayments rather than taken off the payout. The client can see the agreed facility amount and repayment terms before deciding whether to accept the offer.

Commission and any applicable terms should be confirmed with the broker team for the case. Present the funding cost and repayment schedule clearly so that the client can make an informed decision.

What to include in your introduction

A clear summary helps the team understand the business before requesting more detail. Include the facts you have, and label estimates as estimates. Useful details include:

  • The business activity and how long the company has been trading.
  • Typical monthly revenue and any material trading variations.
  • Whether a director is a homeowner and relevant credit history.
  • The amount requested, what it will fund, and when funds are needed.
  • Known commitments or other contexts that may affect affordability.

For non-homeowner cases, include a profit and loss statement. You do not need Open Banking to start the discussion. If a key detail is not available yet, say so; the team can explain what may be needed as the review moves forward.

Unsecured business finance for brokers: FAQs

Can brokers introduce clients to unsecured business loans?

Yes. SimplyFunded works with UK brokers and introducers referring to eligible SME cases for unsecured business funding from £5,000 to £500,000. Register as a broker partner, then email the case summary to the team for an initial discussion.

What are the criteria for an unsecured business loan?

Homeowner director cases generally need at least six months of trading and around £5,000 or more in consistent monthly revenue. Non-homeowner cases generally need twelve months of trading and a profit and loss statement. We also consider affordability, purpose, credit context, and sector. Meeting initial criteria does not guarantee approval.

Can a client with a CCJ be considered?

On homeowner director cases, satisfied CCJs and CCJs on a payment plan that is being maintained can be considered. Non-homeowner cases have tighter criteria, and adverse credit is not considered. Include accurate context about the status of any relevant credit issue.

How much unsecured funding can a broker introduce?

SimplyFunded considers business funding requests from £5,000 to £500,000. The amount available depends on the business’s revenue, trading, affordability, commitments, funding purpose, and full application details.

How does a broker submit an unsecured loan case?

After registering as a broker partner, email the requested amount, funding purpose, time trading, approximate monthly revenue, director's homeowner status, and relevant credit context. The team will call to discuss the case and explain what information may be needed next. There is no portal or API requirement.

Is Open Banking required for broker cases?

No. Open Banking is optional. If the client connects to their business account, it can help the team review recent trading activity sooner, but an initial discussion can start without a connection.

How much commission can brokers earn?

The Commission can be up to 10% on new deals and up to 6% on renewals. The exact commission depends on the deal and factor rate. Ask the broker team for the current sell rate table and the applicable terms.

Does the client receive the full approved amount?

Administration and legal fees are built into repayments rather than deducted from the payout. For example, if a client completes a £40,000 facility, the stated process is for £40,000 to reach the business account, subject to the agreed offer and completion requirements.

Can an unsecured business loan case receive same-day funding?

Same-day payout may be available on qualifying deals once the application is approved, and the required steps are complete. Timing depends on the case, client response, and completion process. Open Banking may help the team review activity faster, but it is not a requirement.

Which sectors are outside the lending criteria?

SimplyFunded cannot fund religious organizations, adult industries, charities, financial institutions, or non-profits. If a client’s activities are mixed or difficult to categories, include a clear description in your initial enquiry so the team can advise whether to discuss the case.
